Ralph Lauren Ventures Into Metaverse, Files Trademark for Name, Logo

Polo Ralph Lauren, an American fashion company has filed 9 trademarks for its name and logo in the metaverse. The company registered the trademark for its Polo Player Logo, and the names – POLO and RALPH LAUREN.

Mike Kondoudis, USPTO licensed trademark attorney, has tweeted the details of the trademark application.

In particular, the trademark includes virtual fashion shows, virtual hotels and restaurants, NFT-backed multimedia,virtual clothing, footwear, and fragrances.

Moreover, the trademark application covers downloadable multimedia files of artworks related to fashion, clothing, lifestyle, footwear, home goods, etc., which are authenticated by NFTs. It also consists of downloadable computer software for cryptocurrency wallets, and downloadable virtual goods for use in online virtual worlds.

Earlier in January, Patrice Louvet, CEO of Ralph Lauren, had remarked that the fashion brand is pursuing opportunities in the metaverse to attract the younger generation of shoppers. He had also said, “There are a lot of parallels actually between the metaverse and Ralph’s vision because we are not a fashion company. We are in the dream business.”

To note, many companies in the fashion industry have entered the metaverse and created their own NFT collections. Also, recently, famous fast-food chain companies have also filed trademarks for names and logos in metaverse and NFT.
